Evidence-based science that complements current practice

At AlvuSana, have designed our faecal biomarker approach to complement existing veterinary gut toolkits and to fill an unmet need of profiling hind gut health. We understand the critical role of evidence-based practice for managing horse health.

Although our approach is novel for horses, it is based on gold-standard ELISA technology and uses immunology and inflammation profiling that is analogous to tests in humans for IBS, IBD and mucosal dysfunction. We've collaborated with gut immunologists and veterinary surgeons to ensure our toolkit is robust and reliable. We have targeted and developed assays that are associated with gut health issues. Here is a summary of how common GI issues relate to inflammation, immune and microbiome state.

We have validated our assays with a wide range of clinical diagnoses including colitis and enteritis, free faecal water, PUO, EGUS and colic. We have road-tested our assays with case studies to understand whether the inflammation and immune state changes under different management challenges. We firmly believe our assays open up new opportunities for clinic-based gut analytics, complementing traditional scoping and scanning methods. We welcome the chance to discuss the science behind our products virtually or in-person. We also can support practices with including gut monitoring as part of a healthy horse plan.

Please get in touch to discuss how we can work with you and your clients to monitor and manage their horse's gut health.
